Nations invested in alternative energy sources such as nuclear fusion and other innovative energy infrastructures. The ongoing international conflicts facilitated military technology to develop even further, culminating in the development of the mech body.<br /> <br /> Unbeknownst to the world an alien invasion had also begun. These alien invaders first poisoned the atmosphere with a biological organism. The biological organism devoured and converted the atmosphere in order to make earth hospitable to the alien conquers. Once the atmosphere was converted, earth became inhospitable to humans. Due to the nuclear fall-out and biologically synthesized atmosphere, humanity retreated to a vast network of underground bases and shelters.";
