The program allows two kinds of interface depending on the preferences - a full-screen mode and so-called "beginners mode" with wide frames, on which big convenient buttons are displayed.

You can select different settings for the text: font type and size; the colour of the background, main text, title, epigraph and rhymes. You can also adjust the encoding, the speed of autoscroll and the width of the page. If desired, one can download an additional application to the program - the system of voice digital synthesizer. BookReader 4.6 supports such languages in its voice recognition option, as American English, British English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Spanish. The program also allows to choose the necessary volume, speed and tone of voice.

To open the text files one should use the library of the program, that offers to do it in two ways - to open a file in the computer or to follow one of the two links, which direct to large Internet libraries in Russian and in English. The program also has the option of editing texts before displaying them.

All buttons that are necessary for operating the work of the program are placed on the frame of the interface, which makes the process of changing and adding settings fast and easy.
